Dearest Gentle Reader,
What a week it has been. This Author finds herself in the peculiar position of having witnessed more chaos, scandal, and sheer bewilderment than any reasonable correspondent ought to endure in a fortnight, yet here we are – merely seven days into May, and the Ton has already provided enough material to exhaust even the most industrious of chroniclers.
One notices, dear Reader, a rather troubling pattern emerging from Monday’s extraordinary happenings through Saturday’s spectacular conclusions: explosions beget arson, which beget elections, which apparently beget invasions. One might almost suspect the Kingdom is suffering from some manner of escalating nervous complaint.
From Tuesday’s troubling tribulations to Thursday’s pestilence, humanity has alternated between its very worst and its very finest. Friday’s electoral carnage has merely cemented what Wednesday’s democracy already suggested: that our betters are quite as befuddled as the rest of us.
This Author remains, as always, your faithful chronicler of absurdity.
